Thank you Mike and Molly Malone! This book is packed full of wonderful recipes for slow cooker soups and stews.There's a terrific recipe for chicken noodle soup. I haven't had home-made chicken soup since my mother made it over 20 years ago. The butternut squash soup and the sweet sweet potato soup (yes sweeter than sweet potato soup) also sound delicious. The latter has bacon in it to add a salty taste to the sweetness of the other ingredients. Yum!
There's quite a variety of stews as well. I can't wait to try their bbq beef stew and their chicken stew. They sound fantastic!
Not being a gourmet cook, I'm glad that the recipes don't call for any fancy ingredients that I wouldn't be able to find in my neighborhood grocery store. Also, the directions are clear and easy to follow.
In their introduction and Meet the Authors page, Mike and Molly Malone sound like a terrific, fun couple, and they certainly know their slow cooker recipes.

Overall, there are some decent recipes in here, but nothing that you can't easily find online. I won't complain though, as it's nice to have things in one location.

This is a good recipe book for a young new cook. College students would find this book real helpful. Anyone living in a small space but wants to eat good food.
Slowcookers are the best way to cook for most any age person and this book has lots of really good receipts to try.
I am a senior citizen who cannot stand for long periods of time to cook on a range so the slow cooker works really well for me as I can put everything in it set it and forget it until supper time.
I fell in love with Mike and Molly. They are so cute with their comments on the recipes.
This is an excellent collection of slow cooker recipes and I always need new recipes to remind me to get out the slow cooker, because every time I cook something in the slow cooker I really love the results. It's nice to have some new ones to try. They have written these recipes in an easy to follow format. I love to experiment with recipes and all of these have the potential to be "played" with. There is nothing better than a warm soup or stew to make you feel good both inside and out.
I highly recommend this book.
When I don't have time to cook, I turn to my slow cooker. I've gotten some other slow cooker cookbooks from and they've been a crock! This book is well put together with tasty and easy to make recipes.
The things I especially liked were

- the clear directions
- the personalized notes about each recipe

There is nothing like a hearty bowl of soup to take the chill out of a cold rainy or snowy day! Hearty Slow Cooker Soups & Stews is an excellent recipe book! I love to be able to make dishes in my slow cooker -- to come home to a meal all ready to eat!
The recipes in this book are well-written and easy to follow. There is nothing left to chance. I really like the fact that the recipes contain ingredients that are readily available, and in most instances I already have in my cupboards! I also really like the variety of recipes. Today I made the Butternut Squash Soup -- easy to make and simply delicious! But I also plan on making this week the Spicy Chipotle Sweet Potato Soup -- and I know that my family will love the Italian Sausage and Bean Stew!
I also enjoyed reading the tips and information provided by Mike and Molly before each recipe. I felt like they were right in my kitchen as I cooked and it made this recipe book really fun to read!
