This is an excellent first novel which brilliantly sums up how it feels to be young and enjoying that transition between school and university, only for it to go tragically wrong. Beautifully crafted, Peter has an excellent grasp of language and characterisation I loved it and would recommend it to everyone.WS

I downloaded the Promise by Peter Sherlock as someone had recommended it to me and found it compulsive reading. I started it on a trip to Cornwall and finished it in three days (a first for me!). I will definitely look to read more by this author. The book was brilliant.
It is a great observation of the lives of young adult's Pre University. I really cared for the characters, which I suppose makes it all the more shocking (and sad too) when you reach the stories terrible climax!
The whole story was beautifully pulled together and written in a very engaging style.
If you're looking for writing that's exciting and page-turning then this could be the one for you. But also the book makes you think, and I really like that. Very good. Give it a try! It's a PROMISE.
